Fairview School, June Fair

Wigmore youth sponsored and ran the Fairview school June Fair penalty shoot out competition at the weekend. It was a great success and helps to continue good relations between the School and the Club. Wigmore donated trophies for the event and gave out flyers to all 5 to 8 year olds that entered to advertise our crèche.
The event was well represented by the younger age groups who kindly gave up their Saturday afternoon to assist.
Thanks go to Ben Flood, Dan Jones, Richard Leonard, Vanessa Davis and Will McKimm for their input and all the children that helped either running one of the goals or putting themselves in the firing line as a Goalkeeper. A big THANK YOU goes to Bradley Stephens, Pat Alder and Yasmin Akhazzan, Alex Stephens and Chris Medhurst, Seb Flood, Billy McKimm, Harrison Davis, Barney Flood, Charlie Allen, Ross Wilkins and Liam Dawes.

Crèche teams take first & second in First ever Tournament

Crèche (Under 7's)

Saturday 22nd May 2005

The Crèche played their first ever competitive games at the Rainham Eagles tournament, 17 boys turned out for Wigmore Youth in two leagues of 5 teams each.

The B team (youngest boys) kicked off first against Valley Colts and lost 1-0. The A team finished 3-0 winners in their first game and both A and B teams went on to finish runners up in their respective leagues.

Onto the Semifinals, the B team were up against an unbeaten Woodcoombe side, while the A team faced group winners Rainham Eagles. Both Wigmore sides won there match 1-0 which left us with an all Wigmore Final, what a fantastic start for these lads.

The A team went on to win a closely contested final 1-0, both teams putting on an excellent display. Both teams had a long day of football and played very well, I was proud of everyone of them, well done.

Derek

Under 8's Climb the Table

The boys have not lost a game since November, and here’s a few other “interesting facts”:

During December and January in the league, they have:

Got 36 points (next best to that is 31, Rainham Eagles)

Climbed 7 places (next best to that is 3 places, Woodpecker)

Scored 65 goals (over 15% of all goals scored in that time - next best to that is 46, Rainham Eagles)

Conceded 2 goals (joint best record with Lordswood, although we’ve played 4 more games than them in that time) – Did anyone realise we’d only conceded 2 league goals in 12 games in 2 months?

Improved their goal difference by 63 (next best to that is 40, Rainham Eagles)

And, of course, got through to the semi final of the John Leeds Trophy.

Congratulations to all the team and including manager Lee and anyone that helps them along the way.

Thank you from Cliffe Woods Colts

I understand from our Under 12`s manager Ian Cooper, that one of his players broke
an arm during our recent game. He and the club would like to thank your club in the
help it gave to the young lad involved and in particular your lady who attended to him.
Unfortunately we do not have her name but would you please forward our thanks to her.

Again many thanks to you and your club.

Under 8's Friendly Results

The under 8’s played 2 friendly matches, against Black Lion at Cossington Park and Woodpeckers at Broom Hill. On the 22nd August at Cossington Park against Black Lion on a very hot day the boys managed a 2-1 win in the first match and lost the second 3-1, despite only having 9 players to choose from due to holidays. Our second friendly against Woodpeckers, having all 16 squad members available was a lot more fruitfull. The boys enjoyed a 1-0 win (B.Flood, Pen) in the first and a comprehensive 8-0 win in the second game (J.Draper 3, J Beatson 2, A Lane 1, C Allen 1, J Babraa 1). There was a good turn out of parents for the freindlies which was much appreciated by the boys and the coaching staff.

New Venture into Senior Football for Wigmore

For the first time since the early 1990's club starts a new venture into senior football. The team, lead by manager Neil Wallace will be playing in the Medway Messenger Sunday Football league. This move is part of the clubs 5 year plan of improvements, giving an outlet from youth football into senior football for our older members. The Youth Management Committee wishes Neil and his squad the very best for their first season at senior level.

Sad Goodbye to Wigmore Wasps

Sadly the club says farewell to the Wigmore Wasps, one of the clubs most successful teams in recent years is disbanded. The Management Committee wish to express their gratitude to Viv Cook whom over the past few seasons has managed, trained and pulled in coaches to keep this team running. At the end of the 2003/04 season the team were runners up in the Under 15 League Cup, but unfortunately, yet again found themselves without a coach for the oncoming season. Viv, after consulting with committee members decided it would be in the best interest of the boys to release them to join other clubs. We wish all the ex-Wasps the very best for their new placements.
