Two very evenly matched teams battled in midfield for the early possession. Bredhurst put the Wigmore defence on the back foot with some fine passing through to their strikers but Ben Reeves managed to protect keeper Reece Kember with some last ditch tackling. Wigmore’s tactic saw surging runs into the penalty area from midfielders Jack Bryant and Morgan Ashenden but striker Ronan Luckhurst was unable to shake off the Bredhurst defence.
Wigmore were determined to start the second half strongly and immediately put the pressure on. The chances began to come with substitute Daniel Baird playing up front. Finally Wigmore won a corner which Morgan Ashenden took, the cross rebounded back to him and he fired a first time shot low into the net. Having fought so hard to take the lead Wigmore were determined not to conceed and ran out eventual winners.
One of the best performances so far resulted in Wigmore dominating this match from the first whistle. Chance after chance came but the Bredhurst keeper was in excellent form and made several magnificent saves. After 5 minutes the deadlock was broken. A tackle in midfield saw the ball break to Branden Walsh who looked up and threaded a ball through to James Perrier who finished with confidence.
Ross Wilkins began to see plenty of the ball and enjoyed the opportunity to try some long range shooting. He picked the ball up just inside the Bredhurst half, touched the ball forward and took a shot, which bobbled just in front of the keeper and nestled in the back of the net.
Danger man Branden Walsh pounced on the ball just before the break and finished in typical syle.
The second half saw much more of the same. In form Branden Walsh added another 2 goals to complete his hatrick and man of the match Joseph Balderston opened his account with a tidy finish from close range.
