Sunday 20th November 2005 Wigmore Youth v Thamesview Youth

Game 1. Wigmore Youth 4 – Thamesview Youth 0

Overnight frost made for tricky playing conditions, but both teams managed to provide good entertainment in a tight first half. The Wigmore strikers created some good chances but saw several shots narrowly miss the target. As half time approached a Wigmore corner was cutely flicked by Branden Walsh into the path of Ross Wilkins who fired in a low shot that beat the keeper at the near post. The determined Thamesview defence was exposed in the second half when Joseph Balderston finished from a tight angle to make it 2-0. Man of the match Branden Walsh then stole the show with a superb double strike to seal a 4-0 home win.

Game 2. Wigmore Youth 4 – Thamesview Youth 0

Wigmore concentrated on holding their shape in the 1 st half and soon began to see the benefit. Daniel Baird enjoyed plenty of possession on the left and provided some dangerous crosses into the box. The Thamesview defence held solid until marksman Morgan Ashenden opened the scoring in typical fashion. He doubled his tally with a fantastic Beckham like finish from outside the box to secure a 2-0 half time scorline.

Playing down the hill in the 2 nd half, Wigmore continued to create chances. Midfielder Jack Bryant showed some great footwork going forward resulting in a 3 rd Wigmore goal from Ronan Luckhurst. Morgan Ashenden completed his hatrick to confirm a 4-0 win for the Wiggies.
