Wigmore Youth struggled to handle the Rainham Eagles attacking play in the early stages. Eagles set their stall out early doors and were a constant threat to the Wiggies back line. They opened the scoring with a low shot from the right that for once defender Ben Reeves was unable to block from going in.
The score remained 1-0 until 2 minutes in to the second period when the ball bobbled around the Wigmore box and ended at the feet of the Eagles striker who poked in from close range.
The goal sparked a resurgence from Wigmore and they began to show what they could do. Morgan Ashenden reduced the deficit with a fine strike that dipped under the bar from 20 yards. Desperate for the equaliser Wigmore threw an extra player forward but despite some clear scoring chances were unable to find the back of the net.
Wigmore were slow off the blocks and soon found themselves 1 down. The defence failed to clear a ball into the box allowing the Eagles striker to guide the ball into the bottom corner. Wiggies then enjoyed some possession and found Branden Walsh in the box who avoided a challenge before slotting the ball past the keeper. As Wigmore pushed forward for a second they left themselves exposed and were disappointed to concede a second goal just before half time.
Soon after the break an intricate passing move down the right wing resulted in Ross Wilkins slotting the ball under the Eagles keeper from an acute angle to level at 2 each. Wigmore took the lead for the first time with a second goal from Ross Wilkins who finished neatly from close range. Eagles, determined not to be beaten pushed forward once again, cut through the defence and levelled the score at 3-3. Wigmore had a great chance to take the win but James Perrier saw his last minute shot hit the post.
