Wigmore Youth struggled in the first half to break down 5 man Royals. They had efforts saved by the Royals keeper and blocked on the line by some committed defending leaving them frustrated as they went into the break goalless.
Wiggies were more convincing in the second half and soon took advantage of the extra player. Striker Ronan Luckhurst received the ball in the Royals box, and despite the keepers despairing dive, saw his shot hit the back of the net.
Wigmore stirred into life and a few minutes later Morgan Ashenden doubled the score with a quality strike from the edge of the box.
A few minutes from time defender Edward Grant hit a wonder strike from just inside the Royals half that floated over the keeper to complete the 3-0 scorline.
The opening 10 minutes of this encounter saw Wigmore and the Royals compete for possession in the middle of the park. Eventually Ross Wilkins burst forward with the ball and hit a fantastic shot that flew past the Royals keeper. Wigmore’s lead was doubled by an unfortunate own goal just before the break.
Despite some great defending Wigmore extended their lead in the second half. Joseph Balderston finished from close range and James Perrier powered home in style from 12 yards. Man of the match Joseph Knaust chased every ball and showed great enthusiasm as he pushed forward. Ross Wilkins scored his second of the morning and Ben Silvester completed the 6-0 scorline with a lovelly left foot strike just before full time.
