Sunday 15th January 2006 Wigmore Youth v New Ash Green

Game 1 Wigmore Youth 7 – New Ash Green 0

Wigmore enjoyed the opportunity to display their passing skills in the first half and were soon rewarded. Four players were involved in a move that led to their first goal which was buried by front man James Perrier.
Soon after midfield dynamo Ross Wilkins latched onto a James Perrier through ball to double the lead. Further pressure then resulted in Ash Green conceding a penalty that Ross Wilkins fired home. They capped a fantastic first half display with a fourth goal from man of the match James Perrier following a surging run forward from Joseph Knaust.
New Ash Green made it more difficult for Wigmore in the second period but were unable to prevent more goals flying in. Jack Bryant gave 100% and thoroughly deserved his goal which he finished from close range.
Wigmore’s youngest star Joseph Balderston came off the bench for the second half and popped up to score a brace of goals to complete the 7-0 score line.

Game 2 Wigmore Youth 2 – New Ash Green 3

The first half was end to end stuff and both teams matched each other shot for shot, tackle for tackle and goal for goal. Morgan Ashenden opened the scoring for Wigmore when he ran on to a loose ball in the area and finished past the in form New Ash Green keeper Leah Dudman. Wigmore then had several good chances but saw every effort superbly saved. This inspired New Ash Green and they began to produce some good play. The Wigmore defence struggled to cope with crosses into the box and soon found themselves trailing 2-1 following a couple of close range strikes.
Determined to bounce back Wigmore broke from deep in their own half to score with a classic counter attack. Man of the match Ben Silvester raced through the New Ash Green defence and tucked his shot under the keeper.
The second half was much tighter but both sides created match winning chances. Wigmore failed to re-take the lead despite several close range efforts and were punished when the ball wasn’t cleared from their penalty area allowing the Ash Green striker to poke home and take 3 points.
