Sunday 19 th March 2006 Horsted Youth v Wigmore Youth

Game 1: Horsted Youth 0 – Wigmore Youth 2

Horsted played with the wind at their backs in the first half and fired several long balls deep into Wigmore territory but were unable to capitalise due to resolute defending by Daniel Baird and Ben Reeves in the Wigmore defence.

Midway through the half Wigmore picked up possession in midfield with Ross Wilkins who threaded a ball to striker Ronan Luckhurst who coolly slotted home.

The Wiggies were a constant threat in the second period and were able to demonstrate some neat passing moves. As a result James Perrier released Ross Wilkins who darted down the right wing, sent in a pinpoint cross from the bye line for Ronan Luckhurst to tap home for his second of the game.

Horsted exerted some late pressure but were unable to find the net and the game ended with a 2-0 win for Wigmore.

Game 2: Horsted Youth 0 – Wigmore Youth 2

A tight first half saw both teams play some neat football but neither keeper came under any real threat.

Wigmore knew Horsted’s danger man Alfie Bull would be a threat in the 2 nd half but managed to restrict him to a few long range efforts.

The Wigmore midfield began to enjoy some possession and were soon able to convert it into goals. Morgan Ashenden and Branden Walsh combined down the left wing ending with Walsh firing home with a quality strike.

3 minutes later substitute Joseph Balderston received a ball in a wide position, fired in a super cross to team mate Branden Walsh who picked out Morgan Ashenden who side footed in for his 25 th goal of the season and seal the 2-0 victory.
