A heroic performance saw 5 man Wigmore run out victors in a highly entertaining contest.
10 minutes in Wigmore’s dead ball specialist Daniel Baird curled in a left foot corner which was met at the far stick by Branden Walsh who’s bullet header struck the post and bounced out to Ross Wilkins who fired home from close range.
Gallant defending in the second period ensured Wigmore held on to their lead to claim a well deserved victory.
Woodcoombe started the brighter and soon tested keeper Ryan Jinman who confidently stood up to the test. Wigmore soon settled into their passing game and began to create chances. A fine pass from James Perrier sat nicely for striker Ronan Luckhurst who fired home under the keeper.
Woodcoombe pressed for an equaliser in the second half but found man of the match Joseph Knaust in fine form. With 5 minutes to go a loose ball rolled into the path of Edward Grant who fired a Beckham like shot over the stranded keeper from the half way line. Soon after, Woodcoombe were awarded a penalty which was converted to set up a tense finale but Wigmore stood firm to take maximum points.
